Traditions
The Spanish and others from across the sea came to Mexico hundreds of years ago, bringing much that remains vibrantly woven into the culture. Most significant is Catholicism, as is evident by the cathedral overlooking the plaza in every town in Mexico, from tiny hamlets hidden in the hills to Mexico City itself. Sayulita is probably one of the least observant towns in Catholic Mexico, but still, the church is here, still the site of weddings, communions, quincenarias, and other significant events in the rolling tide of human life.
